PCA´s note: It has been more than a decade that I first heard about STF technology where the knife blade does go through an STF coated fabric.
Maybe in the next decades, we will see ballistic vests and protective garments featuring the STF fabrics for real.

PCA´s note: In this BBC Brasil video we can see a physical prototype of a bulletproof vest with STF treated foam which by changing the polymer´s viscosity, it reduces dramatically the impact forces generated by the bullet. The trauma reduction is also very positive news from 4cm to 1cm deformation.
The STF technology definitely will pay an important role in the protective ballistic vest in the near future.
